CHAPTERS IN THE METRO EAST Thank you for
visiting our website and learning more about us!
Lewis
& Clark Habitat for Humanity serves Bond & Madison
counties in
Illinois by providing support to its local chapters - Alton, Collinsville,
Bond County,
Highland, Wood River,
Edwardsville/Glen Carbon, and O'Fallon
- in
order to carry out the mission of eliminating poverty housing.
Our
goal for 2010 is to build _____ new homes for _____ new families;
that’s where you come in. We need you to donate
your time, talent, or
materials. Whether it is a little or a lot…every bit helps.
It is
people like you giving to us that have made this program grow.
"There
are diversities of gifts, but the same spirit. There are differences of
ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities,
but it is the same God who works all in all." - 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
"When
a poor person dies of hunger, it has not happened because God did not
take care of him or her. It has happened because neither you nor I
wanted to give that person what he or she needed." Mother Teresa
The
answer to helping these families is not to give them hand out, but to
give them a true hand up. A better footing to go from. Something to be
proud of because they are making it theirs. The have to put in 400
hours of sweat equity. They will be paying for 25 years back to the
program, which help more families. As the old adage says, it is better
to teach how to fish than to just give them a fish. Habitat works with
the families to break the cycle of poverty.
We would like to
thank you for your past and future support of this great group.
Thank you for reading
this and helping us to build better communities.
