BUILD HAPPY BANNER

This tax season, you can give back when completing your Illinois income tax form by donating to Habitat for Humanity of Illinois, our state support organization. A new tax check-off program, passed last spring by the Illinois General Assembly, makes it easier than ever to donate at a time of unprecedented need for affordable housing for low-income Illinois families.

Your donation will directly support Habitat’s efforts to build and repair houses in partnership with hardworking families across the state, who are in desperate need of safe, decent, affordable housing.

It’s easy and convenient. Submit a Schedule G sheet along with your IL-1040. Select “Habitat for Humanity of Illinois” on line K on this quick form. A taxpayer may state any amount $1 or greater (no maximum)  to be deducted from their refund or to be added to their tax due. Even one-dollar gifts quickly add up to make an immediate impact.

There are more than 5 million Illinois tax returns filed. If $1 were donated on every tax return, that would yield $5,000,000!  Don’t think that your $1 won’t mean anything. A sum like that can supply funding to provide affordable housing for as many as 140 well-deserving Illinois families in need of home to call their own.

Poverty housing persists in every county in Illinois. The 51 Habitat affiliates collectively build nearly 100 houses each year, partnering with families to lift them out of deplorable living conditions.
